2015 Reflections

2015 has been a whirlwind of a year for me. I don’t even know where the time went, but at the same time I feel like so much has happened.

The biggest lesson I learned this year is something that will now be a guiding principle for my life. I learned that if you are unhappy with something (personal or professional) don’t dwell on it, do something to change your dissatisfaction. I learned first-hand that life has a way of working itself out, and being afraid of change or taking a risk is not a good enough reason to stay in an unhappy situation - especially in your 20’s. Your 20’s should be a time to explore, take risks, make mistakes, try new things and get out of your comfort zone- if you don’t do it now you won’t ever do it. I still don’t feel like I have completely mastered this mantra in 2015, but these are going to be my words to live by in 2016.

I learned that career for me doesn’t necessarily mean working towards a bigger and better title as the end result on my list of goals at this stage in my life- this doesn’t mean I don’t think it is important, but it means I value finding my passions, living a well-balanced life and being happy  as my top priority right now, all else comes after, and there is nothing wrong with that.  I also learned that if you find something that you love doing it won’t feel like work, and the work-life balance that felt like a struggle all of a sudden becomes easy.

Lastly, I learned that you can do anything/be anything you want in life and become successful at it with hard work and consistency. Starting is really the hardest part. “Just doing it” is the difference between someone who makes their dreams come true versus someone who just sits there thinking about them.

I am so grateful for all the opportunities this platform has brought for me this year. I have met some amazing people and worked on some amazing projects because of this blog. I am thankful to all my readers, friends and family for your constant support; you are the reason I am able to continue to do what I love.

Happy New Year!
